MDX Guitars, more than just custom made…
For twenty years Dwight Maddox has created incredible custom made guitars for Blind Melon, L7, FREEKBASS, Cowboy Mouth, R.L. Burnside, Train, 3 Doors Down, Bloodhound Gang, Clay Cook, Mudvane, and Widespread Panic just to name a few. Each guitar is hand made from raw cut wood, hand picked by Dwight, and crafted with precision. He consults with clients about every detail of each guitar, and not even the slightest nuance escapes his attention.
Several artists have commented on how their guitar is more than just a guitar, it's a piece of art. As Cowboy Mouth's front man Fred LeBlanc says - "My MDX guitar has proven time and time again to be a valuable and versatile instrument in the studio. Dwight Maddox is a man of many talents. Not only has he been making exquisite handmade custom guitars, he's been touring the country full time with the legendary New Orleans band Cowboy Mouth for the past six years as a guitar tech Now, he is embarking upon a project that could help thousands of underserved youths get food, shelter, and medical attention. Dwight is re-purposing the scrap wood from each of the guitars he has created to create one of a kind hand made ink pens. These unique pens come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Dwight, and the artist for whom he made the guitar. Each pen sold will benefit the Better Life Foundation, started by the band 3 Doors Down four years ago. The mission of The Better Life Foundation is all encompassing, to make positive changes in the lives of children, whether that be food, shelter or medical assistance to name a few, and the proceeds from the sale of these pens will benefit its efforts in the U.S. Gulf Coast region, ravaged first by Hurricane Katrina, then Hurricane Ike. Each guitar that Dwight makes can yield up to two hundred pens, all hand made, and all signed to benefit this amazing cause.
