I was never in the military.
My father was.
I have several friends that were and some that still are in the military serving overseas. I never went through boot camp or spent years on a ship or have someone shoot at me for that matter. I was able to do a U.S.O. Tour of Iraq with the band Cowboy Mouth and it completely opened my eyes.
Those soldiers are just like me. ALMOST. They all have dreams, goals and talents. They all love the same things I do.. Family and friends, clean country air, fast cars, good times… beer.
This is the difference though, while I am at home enjoying everything I just listed, There are those in our military fighting and sacrificing everything so that I can do what I love, be around the ones I love, become good at making guitars. Have a cold beer on a hot summer day.
They COULD be doing the same but they are too busy defending our way of life.
I spent 8 months making these two guitars. I could have spent another 6 months and it still wouldn't be enough to say thank you for everything sacrificed so that I could even have the freedom to do what I love. I made these guitars to the very best of my ability. I didn't do this alone. My friends at EMG, HipShot, WD Music Products, Aurora Strings, and Staples also gave their very best to make this possible.
All good people with American Companies who simply wanted to say "thank you" by donating supplies to make these guitars possible.
I remember seeing The Navy Rock Band when I was 13. I remember the guitar player was playing a sunburst Les Paul but it had a Floyd Rose tremolo. I had never seen this before. I remember talking to him about it and he said he did it himself. That was the point it occurred to me that one could do things to make a guitar personal.
Two years later I made my first guitar.
To all the men and women who have served and are serving our country,
Thank you
